Luis began his piercing career as a self taught piercer in 1991 in Miami, FL. When he moved to Washington, DC to in 1995 attend the George Washington University, he received more formal training with an apprenticeship under Andrew Lewis and Onabe Tashi of Perforations Body Piercing. In 1998, he moved to Philadelphia to work at Infinite Body Piercing, where he began to expand his skill set, gaining mastery of successful surface piercing, large gauge piercing, and ear projects. In 2002 he joined the staff at NoKaOi Tiki Tattoo and Piercing, where he still frolics in the tropically themed hallways.
Luis has also been heavily involved in the greater piercing community since 1996 through BMEzine.com, the first true internet piercing community, and has been a member of the Association of Professional piercers since 1999. He was also elected to serve on the board of directors for the association as international liaison from 2005-2008, and has just been re-elected to serve as the international liaison until 2019.
Over the years, he has also become a renowned piercing instructor, teaching classes for the association at their yearly conference since 2004. In 2013 he was honored by the APP, receiving the Josh Prentice award for his extensive volunteer work and dedication for the association. He has also taught at the LBPac conference in Mexico in 2015 and 2013, APTPI conference in Milan, Italy in 2012, the BMXnet conference in Essen, Germany in 2007, the APP Mexico conference in 2006.
Piercing-wise, Luis has become known for his advanced ear projects and his success with surface piercing. In 2012 he placed first in several categories of Industrial Strength’s Earmageddon ear project competition.
